Creating companies

Create the FCA-registered companies you administer under SM&CR so that you can manage all regulatory information using Corterum.

About Companies

Companies are how Corterum refers to the FCA-registered businesses that you are managing under SM&CR - if you have multiple FCA-registered businesses, each one will be its own separate company.

As compliance must be evidenced separately for each FCA-regulated business, Corterum manages its data and activity on a per-company level. Although people and other ENTITIES can be assigned to more than one company, compliance items such as fit and proper testing and Statements of Responsibilities are held at a per company level.

When you first sign up with Corterum, we will create a default company for you - populated with the information you gave us at registration, so the below steps are only really needed to edit that information, or add multiple FCA-registered companies if that is how your business is structured.

Part 1: Creating additional companies

  1. Click ADMINISTRATION, then COMPANIES in the left hand menu.

  2. Click the PLUS symbol next to the title COMPANIES.

  3. Enter the Company name.

  4. Enter a description of the company.

  5. Click the Select file button to upload a logo for the company (optional)

  6. Click SAVE, then CLOSE.

Your new company has now been created.

Part 2: Creating your business entity

Now that you've created all the companies you need, (or are happy with the default one we've set up for you) you'll need to create the BUSINESS ENTITY too. Think of this as a folder that contains all the information about your business, while the company is the 'drive' that holds all the information relating to your people, your business and the other parties such as suppliers and regulators that you work with. To set up your company:

  1. Click ADMINISTRATION, then ENTITIES in the left hand menu.

  2. Click the PLUS symbol next to the title ENTITIES.

  3. Select. Business from the pop-up menu,

  4. The Create Entity dialog will appear.

  5. Enter the all the details in the form.

  6. Click the Add Address button to add your business' address details.

  7. Click SAVE, then CLOSE.
