NB - the best way to create user accounts is at the same time you are creating your staff's person entities in the Adding staff members wizard under FREQUENTLY PERFORMED ACTIONS - go here to find out how.

What's the difference between People and user accounts?

We answer that question here.

Manually creating user accounts

If you want to manually create user accounts for your staff members.

  • Log into Corterum as an adminstrator.

  • Click ADMINISTRATION and then USER ACCOUNTS

  • If you are looking to amend existing user accounts, find the one you are looking for in this list and click the three dots to the right of their details.

  • Then select Update, and use the instructions below as a guide.

  • If you are creating a new user account click the PLUS (+) symbol next to the USERS title at the top of the page.

  • A new pop-up window will appear.

  • In this window you can:

    • Confirm the username (the name the user will use to log into Corterum).

    • Confirm the email address.

    • Link this user account to a Person Entity within Corterum by using the Linked entity dropdown. (Go here for more information about users and entities).

    • Use the Roles dropdown to decide which level of system access the user should have (see Permissioning for more information on roles).

  • Click CREATE to create the user - at this point the system will send an email to user prompting them to set their Corterum password.

  • Then click CLOSE.

Assigning users to companies

User accounts need to be assigned to the relevant companies that you have set up within Corterum. This is useful in the case that you have more than one FCA-registered business that you are managing within Corterum, so you can specify which business(es) this user has access to.

To do this:

  • Click ADMINISTRATION and then USER ACCOUNTS

  • Find the user you have just created and click the three dots to the right of their details.

  • Select Link to companies. A new pop-up box will appear.

  • From the Companies dropdown choose one or more companies that this user should be linked to (if you are only managing one business within Corterum, that will be the only option.

  • If you have multiple companies, you can use the Default company dropdown to select which company should be the 'default', i.e. the company the user is shown when they first. log in.

  • Click SAVE and then CLOSE.
