General

The “Conduct Rules Breaches” visualisation within Corterum enables users to see, for each of the previous four years, the number of Conduct Rules breaches which have occurred within the firm.

Each bar of the graph is broken down into (up to) 4 colour-coded segments:

  • Green – represents breaches of the Conduct Rules by Senior Managers.

  • Blue – represents breach of the Conduct Rules by Certification Staff.

  • Orange – represents breaches of the Conduct Rules by Conduct Rules Staff.

  • Grey – indicates that Corterum requires more information in order to classify the relevant individual(s).

Conduct Rules breaches are presented by year and colour-coded by SM&CR classification

If you hover your mouse over a segment, you will see the number of Conduct Rules breaches within that particular segment.

If you click on a particular segment, this causes a second visualisation to appear. This second visualisation provides information as to when the Conduct Rules breach occurred as well as the time gap between (a) the end of the disciplinary proceedings which concluded that a breach of the Conduct Rules had arisen, and (b) the date upon which the FCA was notified of the breach. This information is provided to help users benchmark their compliance with the provisions of the SM&CR which, broadly, state that:

  1. All breaches of the Conduct Rules by Senior Managers must be reported to the FCA with 7 business days of the end of the disciplinary proceedings which concluded that a breach of the Conduct Rules had occurred (see SUP 10C.14.18R); and

  2. All breaches of the Conduct Rules by Certification Staff and Conduct Rules Staff must be reported to the FCA annually (see SUP 15.11.13R).

Clicking on a segment causes a second visualisation to appear

If you hover your mouse over the pink dots on the second visualisation, you will be presented with information relating to:

  1. The name of the individual who committed the breach of the Conduct Rules, and

  2. The date on which the breach of the Conduct Rules first started.

Hover your mouse over the pink dot to see additional information

Where does the information come from?

It is important to know the exact data points the Corterum system relies upon in order to create its visualisations. Only if this is completed properly and completely will users benefit fully from the visualisation. The table below details the data points used to create and populate the Conduct Rules Breaches visualisation.
